A runner leaves part of the stair visible on either side. Its width and edge finish should work with the actual staircase, including any turns or changes in shape.
Compare how much stair you want to leave visible. There is no single width for every staircase; discuss the usable space, tapered steps and landings when measuring.
Ask about compatible binding or whipping and see the finish beside the carpet. Check the edging material’s care instructions as well as those for the runner itself.

It may be possible, but turns, tapered steps and landing transitions need an individual assessment. Share the shape of your staircase so the team can discuss the layout and suitable materials.
Do not assume every carpet is suitable. The product needs to be appropriate for stairs and compatible with the chosen edge finish and fitting method. Ask the team to check the particular range.
The right width depends on the staircase and the amount of exposed stair you want to see. Final dimensions should be agreed after measuring, especially where steps change shape.
Tell us whether you want a continuous look or a contrast. The team can check the available products, pattern direction, joins and finishing options for the landing.
Discuss the condition of the existing stairs, any decorating or repairs, removal of old materials and the preparation included in the quote. Agree what needs to be ready before the fitting appointment.
Tell us the budget you are comfortable with, or ask us to compare options. We can discuss the choices and explain the complete fitted quote. One room is welcome.
Fibre, construction and the chosen range affect the price. Compare the feel, room suitability and care as well as the colour.
