Choosing blinds for a bay window

A bay is more than a row of windows. The angles, handles and space around each pane affect how blinds will fit and work. Start with the room and its everyday use, then compare suitable styles with the team.

Start with the view you want to keep

Think about when you need privacy and when you want a clear outlook. A street-facing bay may have different priorities in daylight and after dark. Tell us whether the room is used for sleeping, working or relaxing, and where glare is a problem.

Check what happens at the corners

The headrail, fabric or slats need enough room where the sections meet. Window handles, recess depth and the way each window opens also matter. The fitting plan should account for these details before the blind sizes are finalised.

Picture the blinds open as well as closed

A raised Roman blind forms a stack of folds. Other styles gather or raise differently. Consider how much glass will be covered when the blinds are open and whether you can reach the controls comfortably. Compare the actual product, not only a room photograph.

Plan curtains and blinds together

If curtains already frame the bay, mention them at the start. The pole or track, fabric folds and window handles need space to work alongside the blinds. Keeping an existing arrangement depends on its condition and the proposed installation.

Useful details for the first conversation

  • The installation postcode; we do not ask for a full address in the enquiry.
  • How many window sections the bay has, and which open.
  • The room, light and privacy priorities.
  • Any existing curtains, poles, tracks or blinds you would like to keep.

You do not need final measurements before enquiring. The team checks the window and agrees the product and fitted arrangement with you. If reducing bedroom light is a priority, discuss the whole bay; blackout fabric alone does not guarantee a completely dark room.
